Gulf Coast Winter Series – Week 3

February 23rd, 2009

Week 3 of the Gulf Coast Winter Series was a quiet one for Narnia Farm. The weather was a bit brisk this week in comparison to the previous weeks. But, the horse show was lovely none-the-less! Here’s a brief re-cap of some of our results:

Kelley Norton rode her two horses, NF Come Back and Tea Time, in the Pre-Adult Hunter Division. Kelley won 3rd, 4th and 8th on “Tikki” and 4th, 7th, 8th, and 8th on “Oz”. In addition, Kelley received the second place award with Tea Time in the Pre-Adult Hunter Classic and 11th with NF Come Back in the same class. Congratulations!

Gulf Coast Winter Series – Week 2

February 16th, 2009

After being on a high from last week’s Grand Prix placing, Narnia Farm was excited to begin Week 2 of the Gulf Coast Winter Classic! Unfortunately, this week’s showing was a bit limited as we encountered some heavy rains. Cavaliers Choice also received a well deserved rest this week from the ring, but will be back in action next weekend!

In addition, we had some exceptional fun outside the barn this week by taking advantage of the Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans, LA located just over an hour from the horse show!

Kelley Norton moved her two horses, NF Come Back and Tea Time, up to the 2′9″ height. She received ribbons with both horses in the Special Hunter Division and the Non-Thoroughbred Hunter Division. Congratulations, Kelley!

Sherry Hyland Phillips piloted Narnia Farm’s Landor 003 around the jumper ring again this week. Sherry moved “Sentino” up another level this week this time entering the 1.10 meter class and pinned 2nd in a 1.0 meter class earlier in the week. We are very excited about this young horse’s progression thus far! Sherry also moved NF Rutchspun up to the 3ft this week by entering in the Non-Thoroughbred Hunter Division at that height. The pair laid down a few lovely trips! Finally, Sherry rode Alyson Power’s Wellington in the same division as a warm-up. Welly pinned 2nd, 3rd, and 7th for his efforts!

Gulf Coast Winter Series – Week 1

February 8th, 2009

Narnia Farm just completed the first week of the Gulf Coast Winter Series held in the beautiful Gulf Coast of Gulfport, Mississippi. We are excited to report that the Norton’s and Power’s horses have joined us here and we look forward to the next six weeks of competition on the “Mardi Gras” circuit!

Week One started off with Kelley Norton competing on her horse, NF Come Back, and her new mount, Courtney Fitch’s Tea Time, in the Special Hunters winning multiple ribbons in this division. Later in the week, Kelley pinned in the Pre-Adult Hunters ending the division winning 3rd place with Tea Time in the Pre-Adult Hunter Classic and took home a 5th place ribbon in the same class with NF Come Back.

Sherry Hyland Phillips had the ride on Narnia Farm’s NF Rutchspun in the Baby Green and Special Hunters. Sherry also moved her young jumper Landor 003 up the levels this week. Landor 003 made the farm proud by winning multiple blue and red ribbons in his classes! Alyson Power’s mount, Wellington, clocked around a few warm-up classes with Sherry to prepare for Aly’s much anticipated arrival later in the circuit.

Sunday was warm and sunny, perfect weather for a Grand Prix (and a sun tan!). Narnia Farm is excited to announce that Sherry and her jumper, Cavalier’s Choice, had a successful round this afternoon. The duo took home the 8th place award (and check!) in the Gulf Coast Grand Prix. Congratulations to Sherry, Judy, and everyones favorite mare “The Princessa” on the team’s first Grand Prix placing!

Jacksonville Winter Series

February 7th, 2009

Narnia Farm packed up and headed south to sunny Florida to escape the cold and snowy New England weather for the Jacksonville Winter Series. We have finally wrapped up four weeks of competition! Our horses have all been jumping outstanding after some down time up North.  Here’s a recap of the last few weeks!

Owner and trainer Sherry Hyland Phillips competed her horse Shaq in the Open Jumpers winning numerous ribbons (and paychecks!) in his classes throughout the week.

Sherry also guided her new mare Cavaliers Choice, co-owned with Judy Norton, around the Open jumpers including the weekly Welcome classes. Saturday nights are always exciting in Jacksonville and this year was no exception – Sherry and Cavaliers Choice competed in the Grand Prix under the lights!

Narnia Farm is excited to announce NF Rutchspun’s debut in the Pre-Green Hunters. “Baby Rojo” moved up to the 3ft ring and even won prize money in his Division!

Congratulations to our horses and riders on a successful start to the New Year! And, check back soon for more show updates as we venture to Gulfport, Mississippi for the Gulf Coast Winter Series.
