Atlanta Classics

April 9th, 2009

Narnia Farm horses and riders continued the agressive show schedule at the Classic Companys Atlanta Spring Classics in Conyers, Georgia.  Everyone involved would probably say the most memorable thing about Atlanta this year was the rain, rain and RAIN!

However, our riders did get some good showing done in between the rain drops!

Landor 003 continued to impress with his consistent clean rounds.  Affectionately called “The Muppet”, this horse made his debut in the 6 Year Old Young Jumper classes.  Landor 003 was piloted to a very respectable 5th place finish (and his first check!) in his first YJ class.  With our sights set on the YJ Championships this summer, look for this outstanding horse in the up and coming shows.

Alyson Powers continued her outstanding riding in the 3′ Schooling Hunters, the Modified Childrens Hunters and capped off her week competing in the Childrens Hunter Divisions.  Aly and her mount “Wellington” placed consistently in the ribbons in all her divisions with the real excitement coming on Sunday when she was 3rd in the NAL Childrens Hunter Classic.  Way to go Al!

The Narnia Farm team had another big winner in the Pre-Green 3′3″ division.  NF Rutchspun showed outstanding form in this tough division earning ribbons in every class he entered and winning 2nd in the Pre-Green Under Saddle.   Even though this was only his second time in the Pre-Green ring, we entered the Pre-Green Classic and finished a respectable 10th place.  Nice job Baby Rojo!

Narnia Farm was happy to have Chelsea DesRoche and Hilde Higgenbothem join them for week 2.   The girls decided they should go for a much needed “get away” and we were delighted to have them!

Kelley Norton rode NF Come Back to multiple ribbons in the Modified Adults and Pre Adult Hunters in both weeks 1 and 2 of the Atlanta Classic.  They had a slow week 2, as they were rained out 3 days in a row but came back on Sunday and had a terrific performance in the Pre-Adults.

Aly Powers was enthusiastic about expanding her horizons and taking the Childrens Jumper world by storm.  Who better for her to learn on than the unbeatable Toddy Roman?  Look for this exciting team at future shows.  They will be the “ones to beat”!

MIKKI

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

Gulf Coast Winter Series – Week 6

April 2nd, 2009

Narnia Farm is always sad to see the end of the Winter Ciruit.  The Gulfport shows were quite the success and we wrapped up our final week of showing on March 16!

Alyson Powers and Wellington started off the week in the 3′ Special Hunter Division winning the Under Saddle class and taking home  red and yellow ribbons over fences.  The duo continued in the ring over the weekend showing in the Older Children’s Hunter Division where they pinned 1st, 3rd, and 6th over fences. In the NCE Children’s Equitation class Aly and her mount placed 3rd over-all and 9th in the competitive Children’s Hunter Classic!

Alyson Powers celebrates a job well done!

Kelley Norton and NF Come Back were competitive in the Pre-Adult Hunter Division winning first and second place over fences while receiving 2nd place in the NCE Pre-Adult Equitation class!

Meanwhile, Sherry Hyland Phillips piloted Narnia Farm’s   NF Rutchspun around the Special Hunter Division winning 2nd and 3rd over fences and finishing 2nd in the under saddle. In the 3′3″ Pre-Green Hunter Division, “Baby Rojo” placed 2nd and 5th – quite the accomplishment for his debut at this height! Finally, the pair pinned 2nd, 4th and 4th over fences in the Non-Thoroughbred Hunter Division.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on a successful Gulf Coast Winter Series!
